Textiles!!

So I am taking a class called Textiles and we learn everything you can about fabrics. The fibers, yarns, threads, the different kind of fabrics. Well one of the assignments was to weave some different weaves. We did this on little weaving cards. It first It was hard but then it got easier as the time went by. Well I got them back on Thursday adn I forgot about them untill I looked thought my backpack this morning. So here they are.

This is a Plain weave, the EASIEST!!
This is the basket weave, easy also
this is the sateen weave, this one took awhile for it to process in my head but I got it.
This is the Satin weave the opposite of the Sateen weave, harder also.
This is the twill weave easy, well after I figured out that it is best to count, (2 over 2 under)
The Herringbone, this one was also difficult, but I just counted out the pattern and I got it.

I got called into work today, :( so no church for me) but what can I do. Its Utah everyone is Mormon, so we have to have a rotation system. And I haven't work for 2 months on a sunday, so my time is up.

well I got to get ready.

oh and yes stacy I will design your house! whats the budget.....$1,000,000! haha. jk.

crazy times doing homework!

So yesterday when me and dana where doing our drafting homework we got a little cooky. After 2 hours of drafting, and our backs killing us. Dana leaned back in her chair and I just happened to have my camera ready.

So I kind of made her reenact it to get pictures. But it was so funny!!!!! I was dyeing laughing!!

Me and dana don't have the best of luck with our chairs. My seat cushion almost everyday falls out from under me. So when this happened to Dana we had to take pictures of when this happens to me.

But beside all of that I finished my drafting homework and I must say I rock. I had to do 3 elevations: one of a kitchen wall, one of a kitchen island, and one of a bathroom wall. We had to personalize them. We had a floor plan to work off of (just the dimensions). But I loved do it!!!! It was so fun and I know that this is the right major of me. So here is some pictures of the finished drawings. Sorry some of the pictures didn't turn out that great. I didnt have the best of light.

Kitchen wall. 12 by 12 tile backsplash, double ovens, and conter top range
far away picture os the kitchen wall, the ceiling went all the way up to the roof. the tallest point is 19 feet.
This the the island. on the right is a dish washer, and then a farm house sink. and the counter top is a wood block. (that is what I want for my kitchen!)

This is one of the walls of the master bath, it is a full tub, and the shower and backsplash tile is glass tile. and the shower door and wall (that you can see though) is glass.
close up on the shower and one of the sinks. the other sink is on the other wall and we didn't have to draw it.
this is the tub and a little window.

Well I hope you liked my post. A lot of pictures today.
oh and I lost .8 today at weight watchers, so i am up to -5.6 pounds lighter!! My 5% goal is 9 pounds so I am 3.4 pounds away!

Oh and another thing, my Aunt Julia convinced me to read Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, after watching the movie. ( I LOVE that movie!) I am on chapter 4 and ready it is SOOOOOOOO different then the movie, but I really like it so far.

And then I have to draw 3, count them 3 elevations for drafting. And I am so confused about those. Can I just say they are SUPER hard. And I need to do this all today because I am working tomorrow, sunday, and monday. UGH again!! pity party for me. Well I need to get cracking on all my work. So I am going to go. but I will leave you with some pictures i found off of StumbleUpon!

where do i fit in?

ok everyone so this week fo me has been a little depressing. so 4 count them 4 of my friends has been asked to get married. ugh and 2 of my other friends are just waiting for the ring. and another one of my friends even though she says there not going to get married any time soon I can feel the proposal coming.

now dont get me wrong I do not want to get married!!! But a date would be nice.

but so I have been missing my fam a lot lately, with my birthday and with missing my nieces 1st birthday (which I feel like a horrible aunt)

I have been working a lot lately and my feet are killing me. but i guess I get what I ask for, 3 weeks ago I asked my boss if I could get more hours and she said for sure. But it has takin it toll on my feet. I had to buy foot insoles.

So there will be no report on Weight Watchers this week because I am working tomorrow in the morning, so another week of waiting but I should pull out a bigger number since I didnt go this week. Well thats the goal.

Can I just say I stink at Bananagrams.

Oh and today after this post I am going to go through all my clothes. Cause I have to many clothes that I havn't even wore since I have moved here. So I am going to give them to this store down here called Uptown Cheap Skate. You can turn your clothes in for money.

I feel like me and Dana spend way to many nights at home asking the question "what are we going to do?" " I guess watch Friday Night Lights." Which by the way we are already on season 3. I feel like out side of a couple of school friends we really dont ever hang out with anyone and we dont really know how to even strike up s conversation with people in our ward or guys for a matter a fact. i guess thats why I haven't got any dates so far after being out here. You know I was taught all my life that when you turn 16 you will get your first date. yeah that didn't happen. My first date even though it was fun when I got there, was when I was 17 and I was the guys 3rd choice. (it was a group date and the other 2 girls already had dates, oh and he asked both of the girls right in front of me.) And then everyone told me its ok Cassie that you only went on like 3 dates cause when you get to college you will get a date every week. wrong again. I guess its just me cause at first I was saying it was the guys but what I told you about all my friends getting married it must be me. Which make since cause when I go to church we just try to find an open spot and then I keep to my self. I mean I answer questions in sunday school and RS. And people know me (i think) but they dont KNOW me. SOoooooo I am going to sing at ward prayer this week and then in Sacrament next month.

thanks everyone for letting me vent.

This is my logo.

I must say I did a good job. It was hard and the drafting tape they gave us sucks!!!!! But I got through it.

Well after that I did more homework. Some day I hope im not going to be doing homework on Valentines Day.

hello...

Hey everyone, I know its been awhile I have been so busy with work and school. I am now working about 20 hours a week and then I have 13 credit hours at school. oh and my foot was killing me this week so I went to the doc and he said I have Plantar Fasciitis. So he gave me some meds. And Im off to work again. Can I just say something else to add to my list. anyways, What have I been doing with my spare time? working on my profile paper for English. I decided to write my paper on Weight Watchers. So here it is. I would love feed back. And it won't hurt my feelings.

Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers has helped many overweight people become healthy individuals. Weight Watchers has developed a new formula that is supposed to help the members loss more weight and eat healthier. Weight Watchers has tried to listen to their members and their concerns, and because of this they have made the program better, more preferable, and far superior then other weight loss clinics. Weight Watcher’s goal is not to have you concentrate on an unrealistic goal, they want you to concentrate on a practical goal.

When I walked into the concrete building I was shocked. I was expecting it to be a depressing environment, because who likes hearing that they are overweight. In spite of that, all of the employees had a smile on there faces and made you feel like it was ok if you didn’t loss the amount that you wanted to. They look at the bigger picture. Claudia, a Weight Watcher leader, said “Many people join us with an idea in their heads of how much weight they’d like to loss. We encourage them to forget about that number for a bit and focus first on 5% weight loss.” For many people, including me, the 5% goal seems like that can be achieved. “And that’s the kind of goal we want you to start with: one that you know you can do.” Claudia continued.

I waited in line for what I thought was going to be the end of the world. As I got closer and closer to the end of my world my heart started beating faster and faster. As I stepped on to the scale I squeezed my eyes shut not wanting to see anything. “Ok, you can step off the scale, here is your booklet. Have a great day.” As I walked into the meeting room I couldn’t help but look on the inside of the booklet were it said my starting weight. After seeing that number I knew something had to change. “When you notice your in a cycle, just change something, anything will do.” Rebecca, a Weight Watcher leader told us in our meeting. For me my “something” was going to Weight Watchers. Rebecca continued by saying “Things that don’t change remain the same.” This is my first step to not remain the same, to change my life around.

Weight Watchers has changed their formula in calculating their points. Its called the PointsPlus formula. “Foods are ranked within categories using a proprietary formula. In our rankings, we were looking not only at foods’ ability to be filling, but also on health (how their contents of sugar, sodium, saturated fat, fat, and or fiber stacked up).” stated in The PointsPlus Getting Started Guide on page 18. In the new Weight Watchers program they have made fruits zero points. Which is a great incentive to grab an apple instead of a candy bar for a snack. The PointsPlus Getting Started Guide, on page 58, says “Fruits are especially filling, especially nutritious, especially powerful foods. We’ve been helping people lose weight for a long time, and, in general, we don’t see people becoming overweight because they ate too many bananas. But we do see that people who eat fruits for snacks and with meals feel satisfied. They’re great foods, and we want you to feel encouraged to eat them.Thats why we made then zero PointsPlus values.”

Weight Watchers has many tools that can help you lose weight and conquer your weight loss goal. Weight Watchers has a tracker, were you can write down what you have eaten and how many points you have used in the day. In this new program Weight Watchers has tools that are on the computer and can be downloaded to your smartphone. This is great for a lot of people who are on the go and who are on the computer a lot. Weight Watchers has come out with this amazing PointsPlus Calculator, this calculator figures out everything for you it can figure out PointsPlus values of anything, calculates your daily PointsPlus target, and it tracks your daily and weekly PointsPlus values. Weight Watchers has also published four books for their costumers. They are titled Dining Out Companion, CompleteFood Companion, Ready Set Go, and The PointsPlus Pocket Guide. Also, when you go to the meetings after your weigh in you get a Weight Watchers Weekly.

“Activity burns energy and therefore has an impact on your weight-loss progress. Activity PointsPlus values are our way of helping you measure that impact.” stated in The PointsPlus Getting Started Guide on page 76. Weight Watchers wants you to get up and move, so they have added a program that allows you to earn more points daily based on how much daily activity one participates in, each activity is worth a different amount of points based on the endurance level some activities include, taking the stairs, walking more regularly, playing with your kids, etc. “Activity can be therapy for mind and body!”

Weight Watchers has realized that it’s hard for their members to spot filling foods, so they came up with the Power Foods and Filling Foods program. This program is a mini program within the Weight Watchers PointsPlus Program. The Power Foods include fruits and veggies, lean protein, non-fat and low-fat dairy, and whole grains. In this program it also states that you need liquids, healthy oils, multivitamins, and the be active.

In conclusion, Weight Watchers has helped many people with their old program, but with their new program they are going to help double the amount they did before. Weight Watcher’s new program has helped people not just think about their weight but conquer your goals in life. Weight Watchers is hard, but the results far surpass most diets people experiment with. Weight Watchers succeeds in helping people reach their goals.

Cassie

Sis, you are one year older and hopefully wiser.

So my sister is turning 31 today. Can you believe it?? She has had a lot happen to her this year. She had twin girls that will also be turning a year older this month. I cant believe it. My sister moved from Wyoming to Alabama right after the babies were born. Can I just say, Me and my sister has never really lived together. If you dont know me and my sister are 12 years apart. So when my family moved from Utah to Alabama my sister went to college. So yes me and my sister lived together for 6 years. But I really only remember a couple of things about my sister and about Utah. So when she and rick and the girls moved into our house at first it was like they were on vacation. But then it became real. Well lets just say their was a couple of fights. But in the end when I left I missed it. I miss the girls playing, crying, and screaming. I miss making fun of rick.

I miss my sister.
These are the thing I miss doing with my sister.
  • bossing me around (well I didn't do this with her)
  • talking, no surprise
  • going on walks with the girls
  • going to Walmart with her
  • watching movies (even tho she didn't like this part, I guess I talk to much)
  • going shopping
  • playing with the girls
  • going to TGI Fridays (and getting potatoes skins appetizer, yum)
  • I love crashing her car. just kidding, but this did happen. oh and it was her new car.
  • I love her cruch-top-a-let chicken (I think thats how you spell it)
  • making fun of my brother. ( I love you buddy!!!!)
  • I love my sister.

I love you sis!!!

Love,
Cassie
